About

When I was fourteen years old, my high school English teacher gave me this assignment: write a ten-page essay about any topic of your choice. I wrote an essay called ‘All That Glitters Isn’t Gold: Ethics and Sustainability in the Luxury Fashion Industry.’ Years later, I found that essay in my childhood bedroom while home from Paris, where I had recently joined the first sustainability team at one of the world’s most iconic luxury brands.

I’m a sustainability strategist specialised in the retail and luxury sector with 10+ years of experience supporting multinational companies, SMEs and start-ups to design and implement their sustainability strategy and special projects.

After completing my MSC in Management (Grande Ecole) at HEC Paris, I worked as an analyst at BSR before joining the global sustainability team at Chanel based in their Paris, then New York and London offices. More recently, I’ve been helping clients build their sustainability strategy in sectors as diverse as fashion and textiles, beauty, food, and retail and e-commerce.

I’ve worked on a wide variety of topics throughout my career - everything from product eco-design to sustainable operations to diversity and inclusion - with a proven track record of translating big picture ideas into operational action within a multi-stakeholder and international context.

Intuitive yet analytical, thoughtful yet pragmatic - I’m a balanced and versatile thinker who values collective intelligence and teamwork to produce the best outcome.

A few of my favourite career highlights

  • When developing my company’s renewable energy strategy, it was important to me that our climate transition be an inclusive one. This vision became reality when I had the chance to lead a cross-functional group of forward-thinking colleagues in the United States to conceive and implement a renewable energy investment that would cover our electricity load in North America. The $US 35 million investment brought clean energy to 30,000 low-income residents in California, reduced their energy bill by $US 600 per year on average, and provided 20,000 hours of vocational training to people in the community. We were thrilled when the project was named ‘Best Community Changemaker’ at the 2020 RE100 Leadership Awards.

  • Early in my career, I was embedded for several months within a team that designed and developed point-of-sale (POS) marketing displays for my company’s Fragrance & Beauty division. In collaboration with colleagues and suppliers, we defined eco-design guidelines to reduce the environmental impact of materials and improve circularity at end-of-life. During this project, the team began using a recycled PMMA known as GreenCast, increasing the recycled content in their displays by almost one third and decreasing the company’s carbon footprint linked to POS marketing by 66 percent.

  • I was proud to have participated in launching the diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) agenda at my company. Working with colleagues in the Human Resources department, I managed a gender equity assessment using the EDGE methodology across five geographic regions. This assessment created a foundation on which the organisation’s broader DE&I policy and strategy were built and I had the privilege to continue contributing to our Global DE&I Committee throughout my time at the company.

  • While leading my company’s green building strategy, I developed a global LEED Volume programme for our Fragrance & Beauty boutiques, allowing us to implement certification more efficiently at scale. This programme was the first LEED Volume prototype in the luxury retail sector and many of the compliance pathways developed for our boutiques have since been implemented more widely in the industry. As of 2021, more than 100 boutiques had been certified globally under the programme.

  • I’m a certified teacher of Compassion Cultivation Training and have a keen interest in health and wellbeing. I brought this passion into the workplace when I won an internal innovation challenge at my company to pilot a wellness programme for retail employees in our boutiques in the United States. In our London office, I led weekly meditation sessions for my colleagues, including by video conference throughout the pandemic.
